Albert Pooley

Mr. Albert Pooley is the President of the Native American Fatherhood & Families Association (NAFFA) in Mesa, Arizona. Born into the rich traditions of both Navajo and Hopi heritage, Mr. Pooley has been married to his wife Julia for thirty-eight years. They have six children and nine grandchildren. Mr. Pooley has worked with over 275 Indian tribes in the United States and Canada. He is internationally recognized for his Fatherhood is Sacredsm program, created specifically to meet the needs of Native American fathers. To date, the program has served over 1,800 Native American fathers across the country. In addition to the Fatherhood is Sacredsm program, the Motherhood is Sacredsm program is now offered as well. These curricula are currently used by twenty Tribal organizations in the US. NAFFA anticipates significant growth of the program this year.

Mr. Pooley continues to develop new programs to serve the Native American community. Phases II and III of the Fatherhood/Motherhood program are in development. Phase II includes a culturally sensitive program that can serve as an Alternative to Incarceration (ATI), as well as college level courses that can help fathers (and mothers) gain education to support their role as parent and move toward the goal of employment.

Mr. Pooley earned his Master’s in Social Work at the University of Utah, and his Master’s in Public Administration at the University of Denver.
